SLEEPY’S ANNOUNCES NEW COMMUNITY RELATIONS PROGRAM CALLED ‘BEDDER DAYS’
Provides Mattresses, Bedding and Support to Community Organizations Serving Those in Need
One current example of Sleepy’s community outreach is the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, Connecticut. To help the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp ready its facilities for the arrival of youth campers with serious illnesses, Sleepy’s has provided 30 complete sets of bedding (sheet sets, comforters, pillows and pillow protectors), fulfilling items on the organization’s Wish List. The Sleepy's donation provides bedding for a whole unit (three cabins) of campers this summer and marks the start of the partnership.
Founded in 1988 by Paul Newman, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is a nonprofit, residential summer camp and year-round center serving children and their families coping with cancer and other serious illnesses and conditions. Through Camp programs, year-round outreach to hospitals and clinics, and ongoing services for children, families and caregivers, the Camp serves more than 15,000 annually. All of the Camp's services are provided free of charge.
"At Sleepy's, we have a history of providing our customers with a comfortable and restful night’s sleep regardless of the day’s events. That’s why we are committed to helping our neighbors in need by offering beds and other contributions to the organizations on the front lines providing assistance through catastrophic events and hard times,” says Adam Blank, Sleepy’s Chief Operating Officer.
As many as 50 million people are estimated to be displaced in any given year due to tsunamis, earthquakes, landslides, flooding and natural disasters (source: OCHA). Sleepy’s will announce future partnerships with service organizations, such as Furniture Sharehouse and the American Red Cross.
