When to Replace Your Mattress
1. You bought your current mattress over eight years ago.2. You wake up feeling more tired than when you went to bed.
3. The couch feels more comfortable than your bed.
4. Your mattress "looks" like a hand me down (or actually is).
5. You wake with aches and pains every morning.
6. You need pillows between your legs to get comfortable.
7. You see lumps, dips and valleys in your mattress.
The Importance of the Foundation/Box Spring
It is strongly recommended that you purchase a box spring/foundation that is specially designed to match your new mattress. A mattress and foundation are engineered to work together as a set, and the foundation takes a lot of the nightly wear and tear, and contributes to the bed's overall comfort and support. Putting a new mattress on an old foundation, pairing it with a foundation it wasn't designed to work with, or adding a board between the mattress and foundation will impede comfort and reduce the useful life of your new mattress. It may also affect the manufacturer's warranty.
When You Might Need a "Split Box Spring"
Split boxes are foundations made up of two (2) separate box springs placed side-by-side, and are especially for delivery to places where a normal whole box spring will not fit, such as through tight doorways, staircase or around narrow corners. All King size mattresses use Split box springs. Queen size box springs are available in two (2) types: Whole and Split box springs. Split Queen box springs are two 30 inch X 80 inch boxes that equal the size of one (1) whole Queen. If you think you will require a Split box spring, you should make sure to order your Queen mattress with a Split box spring. This can be found in the size selection under (Split Queen Set) or (Custom Queen). Only order split boxes if necessary, since they cost more than a 1 piece box.
If You Have a Platform Bed...
Platform beds are a very popular style of bed today. They are frames, typically with a solid platform or wooden slats across it for the mattress to rest on. They are relatively low to the ground, and do not require a box spring/foundation. Because of the popularity of platform beds, more people are making mattress-only purchases than ever before.
How Much You Should Spend On Your New Sleep Set
Mattresses come in a wide range of prices: for example, a brand name Queen set could range from $249 - $7,000. A good night's sleep is one of the best investments you can make, so you should buy the best mattress you can afford. Keep in mind that most of us spend as much as one-third (1/3) of our time in bed. Your investment will cost just pennies per night over the next ten years! In fact, a $2000 sleep set costs less than 28 cents per night (based on a full 20-year warranty).
How Long Your Bedding Should Last
Just as with price, the quality and life of your set can vary. We recommend you buy the highest quality bedding you can afford. Old bedding should be replaced when you feel it is no longer providing the support you need. Today's mattresses have some of the most highly advanced materials and features and are designed to provide lasting comfort and support and for many years to come.
The Role Your Mattress Plays in Higher Quality Sleep
Considering we toss and turn an average of 60 - 90 times per night while sleeping, the quality of the mattress is quite important. Some people wake up from a sleep because the body is actually fighting the mattress and trying to conform to it. The problem is... your mattress should conform to you, not the other way around! Here at Sleepy's, we provide mattresses that will give our customers nothing short of the best quality, the healthiest sleep, and outstanding support and comfort...all at great prices.Information
